Halden Suede Clog

Some shoes need planning. This one doesn't. The Halden slips on with the heel left open, holds steady through the arch, and carries you from the kitchen to the shop and back without a second thought.

The upper is soft suede, closed over the toe and shaped around the foot with no seams cutting across it. A single strap crosses the instep on an adjustable buckle, so it sits loose when you want it loose and firm when you're actually going somewhere. The hardware has a warm antique finish rather than a bright metal one.

The footbed does the real work: sculpted with a raised arch and a defined heel cup, over a cork-effect midsole that takes the shock out of hard floors. A dark grip outsole underneath means it handles pavement as well as it handles a wooden floor.

Bare feet through summer, heavy socks once autumn arrives. It reads the same either way.

UK sizing. Take your normal size — the footbed settles to your foot after a few wears.
